The Beauty of the Body of Christ

No pictures this time...just thoughts. :>

So, we went to a gathering of believers last night and it was beautiful. Similar walks of life (age-wise), but every ethnicity, different churches, different socioeconomic statuses, every stage of walking with Christ, different views of home-school/private/public school, all coming together to eat, fellowship, and glorify God. Almost 20 kids gathered around the table to eat while the parents hung back and chatted. It was noisy, chaotic and awesome. (The parents did eat after the kids went downstairs :>). This group has been meeting for about 8 years, and yet they still continue to invite new people. That's rare. It's so easy to get comfortable and want to hang around people you know and like. I for one am grateful that this group isn't like that. Still opening their hearts to new people like us. I received an incredible amount of encouragement from the hostess (who goes to another church and whom I just met last night) in this challenging stage of life in which I currently find myself. This is what the body of Christ is supposed to look like. All watching out for each other's kids, all watching out for each other. So glad we dragged our booties out the door and went.

I told this to Michael the other night: We're not making friends here. We're making family. If you've accepted Jesus as Lord of your life, He's adopted you into His family. If you believe in Jesus as Lord, we're brothers and sisters in God's family. We're family. And we're making it here.

The only thing we lacked was help with the boys. We love it here. We know we're called here. It's just a very challenging season and it would be really nice to have a break from the boys every now and then. Living here has been so faith building. I pray for things and they come to fruition. Never have I experienced so many answers to prayers so quickly. Saturday night, as I was falling into bed exhausted at 8:30, I asked God to send us an "older-ish" couple who would offer to help us with the boys. Sunday morning, God sent not one, but two offers of help! One from a lady who works at a middle school just down the street. She offered to come after work and watch the boys while I run some errands or just go to Starbucks for an hour. :> The other came from a lady with two teenage daughters. She thinks that between the three of them they might be able to handle our boys while Michael and I go out for the night. :> Isn't God good to answer so quickly and with multiple offers? Isn't God good?

Isn't the body of Christ beautiful?
